Finding Spirituality in the Everyday (Especially for Women)

Your kitchen, your garden, your hands at work – these are altars. Spirituality isn’t confined to mountaintops or secluded groves. For us women, the sacred lives in the pounding of fufu, the stirring of the pot (that nourishes body and soul), the sweeping of the threshold (clearing energy), the singing while we work. When you cook, pour your love, your prayers, your intentions into the food – that is potent magic. Tending your plants is communion with Earth Mother. Caring for your family is service to the community, a core spiritual principle. Don’t diminish your daily acts; sanctify them. How do you make your everyday tasks sacred? The Divine Mother smiles upon your labor.
